I work in the OE&D space at the American Red Cross in Washington, DC.  Our team focuses on workplace learning and peformance interventions that improve individual, team, and organization performance.  I love to design and focus on creating learning opportunities that are active, engaging, and FUN!  Blending leadership assessment, challenging activities and simulations, and ongoing coaching and support are areas I like to incorporate into learning.  Great design is lot of art, a lot of science, and (when done right) a lot of FUN!  These days, I have less opportunities to do design work in my role, but I look forward to each one that comes along.

Beyond the design space, I also enjoy working with the CPLP program helping with item writing and test review.  Beyond ASTD, I also spend a good deal of time with the Society for Human Resource Management and the International Coach Federation.  As an internal and external coach, an OD professional, and a designer of learning products, I consider it a great privilege to do what I love everyday in my work.

Instructional Designer, Carilion 

I'm an instructional designer specializing in fun and interactive learning experiences. I currently focus primarily on instructor-led experiences for adults from orientation to leadership development; however, I'm also experienced with e-learning, video production, business satellite television, and conference design. My philosophy: there is nothing that can be learned better or retained longer than when games, simulations, or frosting are involved.

I've been fortunate to work on a number of interesting projects.  You can find my activities in Mel Silberman's Team & Organization Development Sourcebooks and The Consultant's Big Book of Organization Development Tools. My course and simulation designs have won awards from ASTD, Lakewood Publications (Training magazine), and the Potomac Chapter of the International Society for Performance Improvement.  I've created videos that have won Telly and International Video and Television Association awards.
